dB :

dB from 63Hz to 8KHz: Enter the levels in dB per octave-band.
Calculation: Launch the global level calculation.
Initialization:
Configurated at level of 99dB in the bands 125, 250, 500, 1KHz, 2KHz and 4KHz.Configurated at level of 0dB on the bands 63KHz and 8KHz.The weighted total is nearly 105dB.
Weighting A: Result in dB of global weighting level A.
Weighting C: Result in dB of global weighting level C.
Weighting Z: Result in dB of global weighting level Z.
Level per Octave: The levels per octave-bands are displayed, taking into account the weighting, A in yellow, C in blue, Z in green.
Global Level: The global level is displayed for the weighting, A in yellow, C in blue, Z in green.
Example: We can notice the very low influence of the 63Hz and 125Hz bands on the global in A against the global C and Z. The initialization values give A: 105.3dB C: 106.6dB Z: 106.8dB.
  • If we add 10dB at level 15Hz => 99 + 10 = 109dB
    The levels come to A: 105.47dB C: 110.56 Z: 110.76
  • If we add in addition 120dB to 63Hz => 0 + 120 = 120dB.
    The levels come to A: 105.76 C: 119.76 Z: 120.49.
We see that the global A virtually didn’t move against C and Z although we switched from 99 to 109dB for the 125Hz and from 0dB to 120dB for the 63Hz.
Therefore we note that only the action per octave-band can solve the emergence problems ( situated virtually always at the bottom of the spectrum) eventually the action in global C but of course not the action in weighting A.
